UPSC exam pattern for Prelims:-
Prelims exam could be a qualifying stage only. Marks obtained in prelims aren’t counted in final merit. In the prelims exam both the papers are of objective type General Studies. UPSC Mains Exam consists of 9 papers those candidates who qualify for the prelims exam can appear for the mains exam. All the papers of the Mains exam are of descriptive type. Two language papers are qualifying in nature. UPSC Mains exam is conducted over a duration of 5-7 days, Paper A and B are of qualifying nature, candidates must score a minimum of 25% each in their Paper I to Paper VII.
